24 May '04 - + 8 - 19 Sad Weekend
This is not how I wanted to inaugurate my blog, but this past weekend
has been dominated by bad news. On Friday, May 21, my father-in-law,
Ralph Dehne, passed away.
He'd been in poor health for a while, but he was recovering well from a
foot surgery he had undergone last month. We now think that a
complication from the surgery was the cause of his death.
My wife, Jenny, and I live a few miles from her parents, so we've been
able to help out the whole weekend, and Jenny's brother and sister both
returned home over the weekend. The rest of the family is gathering
here, and we'll have a difficult day on Wednesday with his memorial
service.
It'll be a rough week, summer, and year, but we will make it.
